Kitchen Extension in Droitwich Spa – Case Study

The clients wanted to modernise the rear of their home by filling the unused side space between the existing structures to create a larger kitchen and living area. The aim was to open up the ground floor, improve natural light and create a contemporary open-plan layout suitable for family living and entertaining.

Construction of a new infill extension with a new flat roof finished with a single-ply PVC membrane supplied and installed by Vanguard Water Proofing Systems Structural alterations to open up the existing house into the new extension. Full internal refurbishment including new flooring, installation of a WC and cloakroom, and construction of a large open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. Installation of large aluminium bifold doors and completion of new external patio works.

The project began with demolition and structural works to remove sections of the existing rear wall to create a fully open connection to the new extension. The infill structure was constructed with a new roof system and single-ply PVC covering. Once the building envelope was complete, the internal layout was opened up to form a single large living space before installing new floors, kitchen units with granite worktops, and completing the WC and cloakroom. External patio works were then completed to tie the house and garden together.

Working within the tight space between existing structures required careful sequencing of the structural works and roof construction while ensuring the property remained weatherproof and structurally supported during the opening up process.

The completed project transformed a series of smaller rooms into a bright open-plan kitchen, dining and living space with direct access to the garden. The new extension blends seamlessly with the existing house while the modern finishes, granite worktops and large glazing create a contemporary family living environment.
