Client Brief

Gloverspiece Mini Farm required a new purpose-built building to support its growing care farm and education activities. The facility needed to provide practical spaces for teaching, administration and day-to-day farm operations while supporting the farm’s work with young people and individuals with additional needs. The farm is an accredited care farm near Droitwich that uses farming and animal care to support education, wellbeing and therapeutic programmes.

Design, Planning and Scope of Works

Construction of a new steel-framed agricultural building including reinforced concrete foundations and floor slab. Installation of structural steel frame and roof structure followed by external cladding and weatherproofing works. Internal construction of office space, classroom facilities, kitchen, toilets and workshop areas. Installation of electrical services, plumbing, heating and internal finishes to create a functional education and farm support building.

Construction Works

The project began with site preparation and foundation works, including reinforced concrete ground beams and floor slab construction. The structural steel frame was then erected to form the main building structure, followed by installation of roof sheets and wall cladding to make the building weather-tight. Once the main structure was complete, internal works progressed including partitions, services installation and finishing works to create the classroom, offices and workshop areas.

Challenges and Solutions

Constructing a new building on an active farm site required careful coordination to maintain access and minimise disruption to farm activities and the educational programmes taking place on site. Ground conditions and rural site logistics also required careful planning during the early stages of construction.
